Even when you compared to other sub $200 tablets in its size class, Lenovo Tab A1000 just comes up short in screen quality, features and performance. Although the micro SD storage expansion is available, it's not a good reason to buy the tablet. There are plenty of other micro SD toting tablets under your budget with greater quality screens and more features.

When speaking about features, this tablet’s including of Dolby Digital audio enhancement that is one possible reason to have this tab. It's geared with audiophiles but only function with existing of headphones functionality and have a lack of user-friendly integration. It's not as easily accessible like the other devices as it should be.

If you're looking for an affordable tablet, the $149 Asus Pad with HD 7 is a better choice for an audio budget tablet. Also, the Kindle Fire HD is currently available for about $159 and the Nook HD packs of value about $129. And if its starting price isn't too much of a splurge, the Nexus 7 is the best way to have for a small low-priced tablet.

The Lenovo A1000 tab is powered by a Quad-core 1.3 GHz, Cortex-A7 CPU processor and 1 GB RAM. This device also has micro SD (up to 32 GB), 8 GB internal storage and a 4-inch TFT touchscreen display (480 x 800 pixels). It has supports Wifi, 5MP rear camera, GPS and WCDMA 3G network. It packs with Li-Po battery 2000 mAh, 10.6mm thickness and the weight is about 132g. It’s running on Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop) platform. Lenovo A1000 price in Malaysia market is range from RM 237 - 287 (about $54 - $66).

Physical Appearance.

The Lenovo Tab A1000 back surface is to keeps it simple with all-black mettle finish and no camera available. The tablet have front-facing camera (3-megapixel) at top left corner and has no light sensor. The tab is an unremarkable device with just a simple design that probably suitable for kids. It has a slim housing that wrapping around the body and is available in white or black. The flush design and smooth texture of the shiny volume and power buttons makes them easily blend into the curvature structure of the tablet's edges makes them difficult to locate without seeking. This time review unit was in black but in certain lights, looks like a deep dark purple with a glittery shimmer at the dark border area.

If you holding the tablet horizontally orientation, the left and right edges area of the border will looked slightly curve inward. These can allowing your thumbs to easily rest on the sides of the tab without obstructing the front-facing speakers or smudging the screen. The device is fits in one hand or much more with both hands and feel very comfortable to hold it, thanks to its perfect curved edges. The headphone jack, micro-USB port and power button are placed on the top edge of the device. The micro SD additional slot can put up to 32GB and have a volume rocker around the corner on the right edge.

The Tab A1000 audio profiles can't control the overall audio of the device but have the ability to set a different volume levels for the ringtones, alarms type and notifications sound. The tab complete with OS Android 4.1.2 and most of its special features have more toward practical than pleasure. You can schedule the turns on and off of the device, easily tune FM radio and customize or change audio profiles. It has quick access to audio profiles and can be quickly changed by swiping down the screen to choose either general, silent, outdoor or meeting. With this option make users to create and customize the audio profile with just in a second.

Lenovo A1000 has wide variety of genre pre-sets such as classical, traditional pop or jazz options and by selecting the right one can turn a cringe tune to a pleasurable ditty sound. With the right setting and combination of song, subtleties in the music will be illuminated with melodic and vocal instruments that are too pronounced are equalized to be better sound with the entire song. The wide selection of movie and music genres is very impressive but inconvenient and overwhelming to operate. Users will often found them self to spending more time trying to classify what they were listening to or slowly switching between the equalizer and the video to search that he or she is using the best setting.

The equalizer for Lenovo A1000 functions for both music and movies. It can only be optimize to its full potential when users listening to an audio via headphones. The tab Dolby Digital Plus audio features is enhancement which includes a baked-in equalizer that only can be accessed through its settings menu. When play the music, the equalizer provides fully function and provide more balanced sound to all genres. The function successfully prevents screechy or tinny sound from some songs too. However, sometimes it's can resulting in over muffling or bass. But the good news is that the feature can easily pairs with low-quality and cheap earphone and make it sound great.

The equalizer menu is always disabled until user connect it to a pair of headphones and unfortunately four-pin headsets can't enable the menu but user can still be use it to listen to an audio. Lenovo says the A1000 is optimized built for music, so it is the reason to user to have experience more thoughtful integration of its better sound features. In order to make the equalizer feature truly functional, it should have been integrated into the tablet's interface. User will switching back and forth between the equalizer app and the video or music window, attempting to optimize by trying out different of sound profiles. With all the while, the tablet sometimes has slow performance and isn't make your frustration level any favours.

After listening a few albums with the different equalizer set-up and trying out each pre-set, it’s been noticed that some genre pre-set don't work well for every song for the particular album. Sometimes the default sound option work the best. A difference in sound quality is also occur while using many of the movie audio settings.
